Watch Sandra Bullock's Audition Tape From 1991
Sandra Bullock is one of Hollywood's most successful stars. She's beautiful, she's talented, and she won an Oscar for her dramatic performance in "The Blind Side."
But never-before-seen footage of an early audition shows Bullock going for a part that is more Snooki than stage acting: In a scene we assume is meant to be dramatic, the young, yet-to-be famous actress shows up with big hair and an accent that would be at home on the set of "Jersey Shore."
The 1991 clip of a scene from an unnamed film shows the 27-year-old in a tight black top, a poufed up-do, and huge, red lips. She delivers her lines to an actor off-camera with a monologue that ends with this zinger: "What makes you think that I would want somebody like you anyway, huh? You've got loser written all over you. Loser. Loser. Loser." (Or, as she puts it: "Loo-zah. Loo-zah. Loo-zah.")

Back then, Sandra was trying awfully hard to be a winner. The graduate of East Carolina University in North Carolina landed in New York with an eye on stage and screen parts. After impressing an agent through work on an off-Broadway play, she auditioned -- eight times -- and finally won the role of Tess McGill on the short-lived NBC series "Working Girl." (Melanie Griffith played Tess in the movie.)
Bullock admitted at the time that the sudden shot at success gave her confidence that her work had paid off. "I don't think it's anything I can't handle. I'd been in New York for three-and-a-half years and did all the struggling."
Check out Sandra and other celebs in their high school cheerleader days.
The struggle was hardly over. The drama of the "Loser" film audition was lost on the director, since Bullock didn't get the part. Lucky for us, the actress shifted gears and loosened up for her role in the 1994 hit "Speed." That blockbuster propelled her to stardom. Who's the loser now?
